Week 5 DFS fades and players to avoid

Whether it’s because of the matchup, the price tag, a nagging injury or expected high ownership — or some combination of any or all of these reasons — you’ll need to decide which players to leave out of your DFS lineups each and every week. We’re here to help.

Our list of Week 4 DFS avoids was largely successful, and we’re back to it in Week 5 with another list of players you might want to leave out of your DFS lineups this week.

Quarterbacks

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (DraftKings: $6,600; FanDuel: $8,200)

This is not a knee-jerk reaction to Stafford’s putrid Week 4 performance. It’s the acknowledgement that Stafford’s floor truly is that low, combined with the brutal matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5. The Eagles haven’t allowed a 300-yard passer this season, and they haven’t given up a passing touchdown either. With so many quarterbacks to choose from on both FanDuel and DraftKings this week, there’s no reason to force Stafford into your lineup.
