Final Score

Chicago Bears 21, Minnesota Vikings 19

Chicago Bears

Mitchell Trubisky was rarely asked to throw the ball downfield, as the Bears seemed content to run out the clock by playing small ball. That being said, he was generally accurate and made a big play on a fouth-and-nine pass late in the game to put Chicago into game-winning field goal range.

David Montgomery had a strong afternoon, as he showed the quickness and vision to find cutback lanes and the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the hole. His ability to consistently pick yards up after contact allowed the Bears to control the clock throughout the game.

Khalil Mack had a strong game, particularly against the run. He notched multiple run stops and repeatedly forced cutbacks on plays designed to his side of the field.

Kevin Pierre-Louis played a key role in today's Bears win, as he ended two critical drives with plays in coverage. He picked off a pass dropped by Vikings running back Mike Boone on Minnesota's second drive of the game, and he broke up a crossing pattern intended for Laquon Treadwell in the third quarter.

Minnesota Vikings

Mike Boone ripped off a huge run to start the game but effectively ended the Vikings' first two drives by dropping a pitch that was recovered by Chicago before dropping a pass that fell into the waiting arms of Kevin Pierre-Louis. However, he redeemed himself in the second half with several strong runs, as he was able to find cutback lanes with ease.

Sean Mannion got the start at quarterback today, and he struggled throughout. His accuracy waned at times, and he made several poor decisions with the ball.

Ifeadi Odenigbo flashed big-play potential a number of times down the stretch, and he did so again today. He made several plays against both the run and pass, including a strip-sack of Mitchell Trubisky in the fourth quarter.

Stephen Weatherly was a force today against both the run and pass. He notched a multiple run stops and quarterback pressures, as his combination of strength and power was simply too much for the Bears' offensive linemen.
