Minnesota Vikings 20, Detroit Lions 7

Minnesota Vikings

While edge defender Danielle Hunter did not record a lot of pressures in the game, he made those count with three sacks on Lions quarterback David Blough. On his first sack, Hunter made the Lions pay for trying to block him with tight end Jesse James.

Cornerback Mike Hughes got more playing time due to the recent struggles of Xavier Rhodes, and he did not disappoint. Hughes held his ground against Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones, as he played well in coverage and even broke up a pass.

While quarterback Kirk Cousins‘ stats look good once again, he was not as impressive as in previous weeks. Cousins completed 80% of his passes and had a passer rating of 111.4; however, he also made a bad decision when he released a pass as he was taken to the ground and was fortunate not to have it returned for a touchdown by Tavon Wilson.

In the absence of wide receiver Adam Thielen, it was once again wide receiver Stefon Diggs who had to carry the passing game. Diggs led his team in receptions and receiving yards. His best play came on a deep reception down the sideline lining up against Darius Slay.

Detroit Lions

Quarterback David Blough had a less stellar performance against the Vikings after his impressive Thanksgiving debut. Blough struggled in the pocket, as he was responsible for multiple pressures and sacks by the Vikings. In addition, he also turned over the ball twice on two inaccurate overthrows.

Wide receiver Kenny Golladay continued his impressive season, as he was Blough's No. 1 target against Minnesota. Golladay caught all six of his targets for 58 yards, as he led the Lions in receptions and receiving yards, as well.

Detroit Lions safety Tavon Wilson was all over the field in the Lions' loss against Minnesota. Wilson ranked second on the Detroit defense with 11 combined tackles, as he came up from his safety position to make multiple stops in the running game.

Even though Lions interior defensive lineman Mike Daniels did not have a sack in the game, he put together an impressive performance against the Vikings. Although they did not show up on the stat sheet, Daniels picked up multiple pressures and had numerous stops in the running game.
