Final Score

New York Giants 32, Chicago Bears 13

New York Giants

Former Penn State cornerback Grant Haley picked up a forced incompletion and allowed very few yards on his way to a standout performance against the Bears Friday night.

Nick Gates, an undrafted free agent lineman from the 2018 class, had quite the night against the Bears' defensive front. The former Nebraska Cornhusker recorded several positive grades as a run-blocker and limited mistakes in pass protection.

Chicago Bears

Rookie guard Alex Bars had a strong performance against the Giants on Friday night. Bars generated more good blocks than bad in the running game but especially stood out as a pass-blocker, stonewalling Giant defenders throughout the night despite the frequent stunts along the defensive line.

Edge defender James Vaughters had the play of the night, recording a strip-sack of Daniel Jones and the recovery. That play alone earns Vaughters the strong performance designation.

New York Giants

Cornerback Henre' Toliver, formerly of the AAF, was involved in making several plays on Friday night but ultimately looked like a liability in coverage. This was most evident on the Bears' first drive of the second half, when Toliver was torched on a go route by Marvin Hall and showed no signs of being able to recover. Had the pass not been overthrown, it almost certainly would have been taken the house. The Bears targeted Toliver on the very next play, throwing another go route, though it too was uncatchable.

Giants tight ends CJ Conrad and Scott Simonson both logged drops in the contest, driving down their respective grades in limited action.

Chicago Bears

While Jordan McCray wasn't awful in pass protection, he did struggle significantly in the run game. An undrafted free agent from the 2014 class, McCray earned too many negative marks as a run-blocker to avoid the poor performer tag in this one.

Second-year Western Kentucky product Joel Iyiegbuniwe struggled to leave a positive impact in coverage or the run game against Carolina. He allowed several completions and a first down on the night.
