  • Falcons CB Desmond Trufant was back on the practice field working in team OTAs on Tuesday per NFL.com. Trufant suffered a torn pectoral during a Week 9 game against Tampa Bay in 2016, and missed the rest of the regular season and the team's Super Bowl run.
  • Trufant was drafted in the first round by the Falcons in 2013 from the University of Washington. In April he signed a five year contract extension with the team for a reported $69 million with $42 million guaranteed.
  • As a rookie Trufant made an impact immediately, finishing the 2013 season as the number six overall graded cornerback with a PFF grade of 87.6. In 2015 he was targeted at the lowest rate of any NFL cornerback, leading the league in cover snaps per target at 9.8.
  • A strength of Trufant's game has been his sure tackling ability. In his last full season of 2015, he finished third among cornerbacks in PFF's Tackling Efficiency rankings at 45.0, which is attempted tackles made per missed tackle. In nine games in 2016 he had 0 missed tackles, playing the most snaps at cornerback in the NFL without a missed tackle.
