DFS guide: Week 4 in FanDuel cash games

Week 3 was a mess from a cash game perspective, as the chalk flopped across the board. That tends to happen only a few times a season, though, so don’t get dismayed.

I’ve used this space to go over cash strategies and players I like this week. But I’ve started to stray too far from what this article was initially intended to be: A full-on strategy guide, and not a here’s-who-I-like piece.

We have an enormous amount of content covering who is expected to have a good game, including my own PPO breakouts piece and a DFS Locks piece (on Saturday mornings).

I’ll try to go back to the drawing board from here on out and instead focus on lineup construction and strategy specific to this week.

Here’s a look at my FanDuel cash game strategies for Week 4.

Week 4 outlook: FanDuel pricing and projections

Tier Definitions

1 2 3 4 5
QB $8000+ $7500-$7900 $7000-$7400 $6500-$6900 $6100-$6400
RB $8000+ $7000-$7900 $6000-$6900 $5000-$5900 $4600-$4900
WR $8000+ $7000-$7900 $6000-$6900 $5000-$5900 $4600-$4900
TE $7000+ $6000-$6900 $5500-$5900 $5000-$5400 $4600-$4900

The Box: The first row within each tier represents the average salary of every player in that tier. The second row represents the average projected fantasy points for every player in that tier. The third row is the average value of each player in that tier (points/salary*1000). The Box is also color coordinated within each position throughout the tiers.

Quarterbacks

The strategy: Choose a quarterback that fits with the rest of the roster

There are a ton of quarterbacks to like this week. Tom Brady is wildly expensive, but he’s been scoring the earth, and you can make the case for him. Way down at $6,600 is DeShone Kizer, despite the fact he has two games with at least 19.5 FanDuel points.

From top to bottom and everywhere in between, there are viable cash-game quarterbacks this week. The Box shows us this as well, with the value difference between Tier 1 quarterbacks (2.40) and Tier 4 quarterbacks (2.15) proving to be negligible.
