Four Oklahoma offensive players named to PFF's All-Big 12 first-team selections

The 2018 regular season is in the books and the College Football Playoffs are set. With the culmination of the regular season comes PFF's awards and all-conference selections as well as our All-American lists for both the first and second team.

The All-conference selections have been made by each of PFF's leading conference analyst based mainly on PFF's play-by-play grading process for the entire season as well as cumulative grades, game grades against quality opposition, other PFF advanced statistics and playing time.

The All-Big 12 selections below are headlined by the first team with the second team listed below each position.

Quarterback

First Team: Kyler Murray, Oklahoma

Murray was the highest-graded offensive player in all of college football this season, thanks to both the top passing and top rushing grade among all quarterbacks. His myriad of throws from both in the pocket and out are second to none this season as he was college football's most dominant offensive player.

Second Team: Will Grier, West Virginia

Running Back

First Team: Trey Sermon, Oklahoma

Sermon followed in a long line of talented Oklahoma running backs and finished the season with an elusive rating f 128.8, third in the conference.

Second Team: Kennedy Brooks, Oklahoma

Running Back

First Team: David Montgomery, Iowa State

Montgomery was the toughest running back to tackle in all of college football this season and his 90 total missed tackles forced were by far the most in the conference. He's on pace to once again lead the nation in missed tackles forced on carries for a second straight year.

Second Team: Pooka Williams Jr., Kansas

Wide Receiver

First Team: Marquise Brown, Oklahoma

The speedster Brown was fourth in the nation with an impressive 3.90 yards per route run average this year, hauling in multiple deep-pass, highlight-reel touchdowns.

Second Team: Antoine Wesley, Texas Tech

Wide Receiver

First Team: Tylan Wallace, Oklahoma State

There was no better deep threat in college football than Wallace, who led the country with 20 deep receptions (20-plus yards downfield) and 708 yards.

Second Team: Jalen Reagor, TCU

Wide Receiver

First Team: Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Texas

Humphrey dominated the slot this year for Texas and his 22 missed tackles forced were the most among all Big 12 receivers.

Second Team: Gary Jennings Jr., West Virginia

Tight End

First Team: Trevon Wesco, West Virginia

Wesco forced 11 missed tackles and gained 220 yards after the catch on just 24 receptions this year.

Second Team: Carson Meier, Oklahoma

Offensive Tackle

First Team: Dalton Risner, Kansas State

The legend of Risner at Kansas State continued this year as he didn't allow a sack for the second straight season and he has now allowed just one in 1,489 career pass-blocking snaps.

Second Team: Yodny Cajuste, West Virginia

Offensive Guard

First Team: Jack Anderson, Texas Tech

Anderson had the highest run-blocking grade among all guards in the conference and allowed just one sack on pass plays.

Second Team: Dru Samia, Oklahoma

Center

First Team: Creed Humphrey, Oklahoma

With no sacks allowed all season, Humphrey finished the season with the 12th-highest pass-blocking grade among all FBS centers.

Second Team: Matt Jones, West Virginia

Offensive Guard

First Team: Elijah Rodriguez, Texas

Rodriguez had the 11th-best pass-blocking grade and the fourth-best run blocking grade in the Big 12 among guards.

Second Team: Josh Sills, West Virginia

Offensive Tackle

First Team: Lucas Niang, TCU

Thanks to allowing no sacks and just seven pressures, Niang had the second-highest pass-blocking efficiency mark among Big 12 tackles (behind Risner) at 99.2.

Second Team: Samuel Cosmi, Texas

 

DEFENSE

Edge Defender

First Team: L.J. Collier, TCU

Collier's pass-rushing productivity mark of 8.9 was the second-highest among Big 12 edge defenders this season.

Second Team: Daniel Wise, Kansas

Edge Defender

First Team: Charles Omenihu, Texas

A run-game nightmare, Omenihu had the second-most run stops among Big 12 edge defenders for a third-best run stop percentage of 7.8%.

Second Team: Jordan Brailford, Oklahoma State

Defensive Interior

First Team: Kenny Bigelow Jr., West Virginia

No Big 12 interior defensive linemen had a better pass-rushing productivity score than Bigelow Jr.'s 4.8.

Second Team: Ray Lima, Iowa State

Defensive Interior

First Team: Neville Gallimore, Oklahoma

Gallimore made 16 solo run stops this year, resulting in a run-stop percentage of 6.8% that ranked seventh among interior defensive linemen in the conference.

Second Team: Trey Carter, Oklahoma State

Linebacker

First Team: Joe Dineen Jr., Kansas

Dineen Jr. made a ridiculous 58 solo run stops, the second-most in the entire NCAA this season as he once again led the Power-5 linebackers in total defensive stops.

Second Team: Mike Rose, Iowa State

Linebacker

First Team: Dakota Allen, Texas Tech

Allen's 90.9 run-defense grade ranked eighth in the NCAA among all qualified linebackers.

Second Team: Curtis Bolton, Oklahoma

Cornerback

First Team: Brian Peavy, Iowa State

On 387 coverage snaps, most of which came against pass-happy Big 12 teams, Peavy allowed under 50% of passes thrown his way to be caught (48.9%) and limited receivers to just 52 yards after the catch while breaking up seven passes and recording an interception of his own.

Second Team: Innis Gaines, TCU

Cornerback

First Team: Jeff Gladney, TCU

Gladney averaged 15.7 coverage snaps per reception allowed this season, despite being targeted every 5.9 coverage snaps.

Second Team: Kris Boyd, Texas

Safety

First Team: Mike Lee, Kansas

Lee made 15 solo run stops this season, good for an impressive run stop percentage of 5.4%.

Second Team: Caden Sterns, Texas

Safety

First Team: Bryce Torneden, Kansas

Torneden made 33 total solo stops this season which was the second-most among all safeties in the Big 12.

Second Team: Braxton Lewis, Iowa State

Flex Defense

First Team: Duke Shelley, Kansas State

QBs throwing at Shelley had a rating of just 52.0 on the season, the lowest mark among outside corners in the Big 12.

Second Team: Davante Davis, Texas

SPECIAL TEAMS

Kicker

First Team: Clayton Hatfield, Texas Tech

Hatfield was perfect on 55 extra point attempts, as well as a perfect 7-of-7 on kicks between 40-49 yards.

Second Team: Austin Seibert, Oklahoma

Punter

First Team: Drew Galitz, Baylor

Galitz average 42.4 yards per punt and had 21 punts land inside the 20, while averaging a Big 12-best 4.16 seconds of hangtime per punt.

Second Team: Corey Dunn, Iowa State

Kick Returner

First Team: Tre Brown, Oklahoma

Brown was the highest-graded kick returner in the Big 12 by a wide margin, averaging 24.0 yards per return with a long of 86, and no muffed kicks all season.

Second Team: De'Quan Bowman, Texas Tech

Punt Returner

First Team: Ceedee Lamb, Oklahoma

Lamb's 215 total punt return yards were the most in the conference as he averaged an impressive 14.3 yards per return this year while not muffing a single punt.
