Offensive Player of the Week and True Freshman of the Week: RB Jaydn Ott, Cal Golden Bears

Ott finished with two 70-plus yard touchdown runs, making him the fifth running back to do so against a Power Five defense since 2017.

Ott regularly found the open hole and averaged 7.3 yards before contact per attempt, but he did plenty of extra work after contact to get to his 264 rushing yards. He broke 12 tackles and picked up at least five yards after contact on eight of his 18 runs.

The Cal true freshman now owns the highest rushing grade in the FBS through Week 4, at 94.4. He is averaging an astounding 8.1 yards per attempt to kick off his college career.

Defensive Player of the Week: LB Ivan Pace Jr., Cincinnati Bearcats

Pace gathered six total pressures — with two sacks — on 20 rushes for the game.

He dropped into coverage over 50 times against the Hoosiers and still finished with fewer yards allowed than he did to start the game. The 6-foot, 235-pound off-ball linebacker allowed -2 yards in coverage and recorded two passing stops.

Pace also gathered nine tackles against the Hoosiers’ rushing attack on 32 run-defense snaps. He tallied four defensive stops and three tackles for loss or no gain.

Pace is now the highest-graded off-ball linebacker in the FBS through Week 4.
